Handy  survey compass with the "reversed" E & W cardinal points - the bearing is read from the north (black) tip of the needle.  Feet on reverse straddle the telescope of a transit or level or the device can be used alone. Brass-wound on south end of needle for balance. It is a solid and accurate compass.
