Collecting Military Compasses

Marching compass P1

Germany did not invade Finland in 1941. After the Finnish winter war the Finnish gouvernement made a deal with the Germans to fight together against the Russian army. On September 4, 1944  the Finnish gouvernement  agreed a  ceasefire , and the Moscow Armistice was signed on September 19. In the Armistice agreement Finland was obliged to expel German troops from the country. This led to the Lapland War. In 1944 the Finnish army fought  the Germans out of Lapland.

Germany bought these compasses for their Airborn troops. This type of compass was the first fluid wrist compass, made by o/y Physics a/b Helsinki or Suunto Helsinki.
